Closed Loop
The closed loop installation minimises the requirements from the room. All critical applications are isolated from the environment and stored in a single cabinet. The heat can be removed direct from the source and the room conditions can be secured less stringently. The cabinet conditions have to be controlled instead of the room conditions. A closed loop solution can be ideal for a SMB type company. All business applications can be centralised in Varicondition-H2O. Some low density applications, for example cabling and patching can be installed in a separated cabling rack. Minkels provides Varicon LANRack or Varicon M cabling solutions for this purpose. When you combine these units with today’s virtualisation solutions the amount of business applications which can be located in one rack is impressive and will exceed the requirement of SMB type of companies.
The Varicondition-H2O enables you to standardise on cooling modules due to it’s flexibility. The same module can be used in a data centre and in MER or SER. The savings on maintenance and spare parts are significant especially when considered over time. It is hard to predict the future requirements of your IT environment, but with the Varicondition-H2O one can adapt to every scenario.
In a closed loop setup the unit is integrated in the rack and the scope of the system is the rack.
There are basically three types of closed loop installation. Because of the adjustable inlet valves and outlet direction of the EC fan the cooling module can be easily adjusted to the required setup.This results in flexible solutions for multiple scenarios:
- One cooling module can be installed on one cabinet and so deliver a cooling capacity of 24 kW per rack
- This cooling capacity can be divided over two cabinets which results in a cooling capacity of 12 kW per rack
- In case of installing two cooling modules on one rack you reach a cooling capacity of 48 kW or a redundant (1+1) solution for 24 kW.
